The tour starts in the morning so we can comfortably enjoy the day without rushing. We drive through the capital of the Eastfjords Egilsstaðir, through the farmland full of omnipresent sheep until we reach the valley of glacier river Jökulsá, that cuts through the barren Arctic landscape. From the parking it takes about 20 to 30 minutes of walking one way to reach the canyon. But every single step is absolutely worth it as you will be stunned by the views the open up once you reach the place. We are in no rush so we can take our time to enjoy ourselves and take as many photos as wanted. After walking back we take a little snack and bathroom break and slowly head out.

On our way back we stop at the waterfalls we like the most in the area - Rjúkandi and Gufufoss. We can do optional shopping in one of the local wool stores and gift stores. We drive back to Seyðisfjörður.

What to wear

It’s an easy tour with a around 2 miles of walking, but make sure you:
